Some local authorities require that you pass an English screening assessment in order to be licensed as a Hackney Carriage or Private Hire vehicle.
To find out if your local authority requires you to take an English screening assessment, please contact them directly. You should also check that we already work with your local authority to carry out the English screening assessment on their behalf.
Our fees
£45.00 The fee includes login to the online written element of the assessment and one attempt at the online verbal element.
You will receive your login and booking confirmation on two separate emails.
What you must bring online verbal element
- Your driving licence.
- If you have the old style (non-photocard) licence, then you must also bring a valid passport.
Passing your assessment
This is an online English screening assessment, the assessment is comprised of two elements; a multiple choice assessment and a verbal assessment. Upon making a booking, you will receive a Zoom invite by email. You will also receive login access for the multiple choice assessment element on a separate email.
When you pass your assessments (verbal and multiple choice), you will receive your pass certificate by email, within 3 working days. The information on your pass certificate cannot be amended once it has been issued. The information contained on your certificate must match the information shown on your driving licence.
Failing the assessment
If you do not pass either elements of the assessment (verbal and multiple choice), you will need to rebook your assessments. To rebook your assessment, fill in our booking form above.
Amending or cancelling your assessment
You can easily amend or cancel your assessment once it has been booked. Please call us on 0330 111 7230 or email taxi@greenpenny.co.uk to do this. Please ensure you give enough notice to amend or cancel – you must give at least 4 clear working days notice so that you don’t lose your fee (working days = Monday to Friday, not including bank holidays. 4 clear working days, does not include the day you inform us you would like to cancel or the date of the assessment).
